Oh summer, how we love you. The glowy tan, beer gardens and much needed vitamin D. One thing we could do without, however, is chub rub.
Mostly found in the inner thighs, when sweat and friction causes a burning sensation. Then pain, grazing and sometimes blood. LOVELY! Essentially it’s chaffing, which a lot of people refer to as chub rub. This use to be thrown about as a derogatory term but a whole host of badass ladies are reclaiming it.
I’ll be honest, up until about a year ago I was sheltered from the trials and tribulations that is inner thigh chaffing. It doesn’t matter what your body type, no one is immune to it. Having bit on a bit of weight (‘cus hey our metabolisms change when we get older) this summer I’ve been hit by a lovely load of it. And I need to offer my sincerest apologies for never realising how bloody awful it is. We all need a medal for getting through summer despite our skin trying to make it as difficult as possible.
So, thanks to the ever-wise tool that is google, FGRLS CLUB have provided a handy guide to reduce the annoyance of chub rub.
- KEEP THOSE BABIES DRY.
Talc/baby powder/cocaine. Any powdery white substance will do. Joking about the latter, obv.
- BALM BABE
Use a balm like Benefit’s Feel Good or Glide. It’ll soothe your chub rub, and give you silky soft skin. Win win.
- SPANX SISTA
Spanx or cycling shorts will be your saviour. ‘Cus once you’ve sweated off the above powder or balm it’s anyone’s game. Keep these in your handbag all summer long as some chafing shaped heroes.
- HEELS? DON’T QUOTE ME ON THIS
I’m gonna be real, I’m short AF. For some reason wearing heels prevents chub rub for me. Google has not affirmed this to be a general rule.
It is also important to note this key film when thinking of chub rub…
